New single ''The Tea in China '':

The MODERN CLOUDS formed in 2024 after a number of recordings (SHOCKWAVE, THE DAYS OF THE BLIND AND ROSES, CALLING ANGEL) featuring the work of producer multi-instrumentalist LOUIS DENOMME and vocalist FRANKLIN SANE as part of their work as THE KOLLABORATORS with a mix of talented contributors. Two of those recordings reached number one on Independent radio stations in North America and Europe.A shared love of the sound of the second British invasion including new wave, post punk and shoegaze and a synaptic synergy led FRANKLIN and LOUIS to conclude there was more to be done. More sounds to be made and more fun to be had in tapping the melodramatic side of the post punk world. In search of a name FRANKLIN proposed the first thing that came to mind: THE MODERN CLOUDS. And THE CLOUDS are currently pushing their way through a mix of indie fav styles from the haze of shoegaze to goth and glam and synth fueled rock of which their latest single THE TEA IN CHINA maybe as good a measure as any of what they're up to in an orgy of indie sounds and a pretty heavy dose of sarcasm.

The Origine of The Moderns Clouds

The Modern Clouds is the meeting of two creative forces: Montreal-based composer-producer Louis Dénommé and dynamic vocalist-lyricist Franklin Sane. The duo first crossed paths through Louis’s global indie project, The Kollaborators, where their chemistry quickly became undeniable.Their initial collaboration gave birth to three evocative tracks: “Shockwave,” “The Days of the Blind and Roses,” and “Calling Angel”—songs that blend atmospheric alt-rock with emotional depth and cinematic tension. The success and creative synergy of these sessions inspired the pair to launch a dedicated project of their own.And so, The Modern Clouds was born—a space for experimentation, storytelling, and a shared love for 80s/90s alternative rock, layered with modern textures and introspective lyricism. With Louis’s rich production background and Franklin’s soulful, haunting delivery, the duo crafts soundscapes that are at once nostalgic and forward-looking.Below, you’ll find more about Louis and Franklin’s other musical projects, offering a deeper look into the creative journeys that shaped and continue to fuel The Modern Clouds.

Louis's first active project, Dénommé / Laventure, began in 2020 in collaboration with Montreal-based French vocalist and guitarist François Laventure. Dénommé / Laventure is a musical project that explores dreamy, melodic soundscapes rooted in French alternative songwriting

FRANKLIN SANE

A theatrical performer, FRANKLIN SANE has performed on the college and club circuit, on network television, and had his original songs featured on college and modern rock radio, and has played supporting slots with national touring acts. He has released two albums of original material, REVOLUTION DAY and LIFT, as well as REMIXAMOOZA, an album of 60’s pop/rock refashioned as 80’s dance floor favorites. Franklin has also been active collaborating on original songs with artists from New York, England, Holland, Australia and beyond.After years of close calls with his own brush with fame through various record label and music industry contracts both in the states and in the U.K. FRANKLIN became the vocalist for the tribute act, BOWIE’S ALIVE! (David Bowie) and also THE CINEMATIC FURS (The Psychedelic Furs) and has a synth pop duo act that performs at private events billed as FRANKLIN SANE’S 80’S GLAM PARTY! performing songs from the 80’s and beyond.FRANKLIN has studied classical voice, dance, theatre and mime. He has written over 400 songs and his British alternative influences bleed into his vocal delivery in songs full of enigmatic lyrics that cover topics from current events to emotional themes, tales of personal transformation and more.
